Ondo Finance and Pantera Capital have launched a $250 million fund to accelerate investments in tokenized real-world assets (RWAS), Axios reported on July 3rd.
According to the report, a fund named Ondo Catalyst will invest in equity stakes and tokens for projects that develop tokenized versions of traditional financial assets.
Ondo’s Chief Strategy Officer, Ian de Bode, said the tokenized market is witnessing a “arms race” as it expands to fund offerings with tokenized stocks and exchange agreements.
Recent initiatives reflect this momentum. Robinhood has launched a Layer 2 blockchain to enable European clients to trade ETFs with tokenized US stocks.
In May, Kraken announced plans to offer US stock trading, symbolized to non-US investors, but Coinbase reportedly is pursuing regulatory approval to provide tokenized stocks.
Ondo Finance is expanding its role in blockchain-based capital markets this year. The company launched Ondo Global Markets to connect traditional finance with blockchain infrastructure and formed a global market alliance with other crypto companies to drive adoption.
