Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Sweet will face Belinda Bensik in the second Wimbledon semi-final, with both players taking part in the maiden in the Grass Court Major with the final four.

Four-time French Open winner and clay court specialist Swiatek’s previous best results at Wimbledon took place in the quarter-finals in 2023, but Tokyo Olympic champion Bencic only reached three in the last 16.

2018 Junior Wimbledon champion Swiatek defeated Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova in the quarter-final straight set and said he is proud of how the game in Grass developed. She holds an 8-1 record on the surface this year. It’s the best single season.

“This year I felt like I developed as a player and had some time to practice a little more,” Swiatek said after her victory.

“Each match, my confidence certainly rose and I made it possible to use it in this championship.”

Paul is waiting for Swiss Mama Bensik in the semi-finals. Bensik, the first Swiss woman to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals since Martina Hingis in 1998, returned to tennis last October. Six months after giving birth to my daughter Bella.

“I can only imagine how difficult it would be to come back after pregnancy,” Sweet said. “We practiced at our first event at the United Cup this year and she appears to be ready to go back to rhythm.

“It’s true, she has a game that plays well with Grass here. Yeah, I don’t doubt she’s not going to come back after pregnancy.

Swiatek and Bencic faced off in the fourth inning, with Paul leading 3-1 from the head. Their final meeting was also Wimbledon. This is a three-set battle in the fourth round of 2023.

Returning to the post-natal top 20 and playing only the second Grand Slam semi-finals of her career, Bensik, said she is proud of her journey.

“I didn’t say that much before, but since I had Bella, I’ve told myself every day,” she told the crowd. “It’s not just me. I can’t do it without my amazing family and team. We worked hard on the comeback.

“We enjoy life on tour and playing great is a bonus. I’m really happy to be able to play again, as my body generally allows it.”

Swiatek vs Bencic is scheduled to take place at Centre Court after the Sabalenka vs Anisimova semi-finals.
