Trust Wallet, one of the world’s leading independent wallets with over 200 million users, is proud to announce full support for the next evolution of Ethereum account design, the EIP-7702.
Set to be the biggest upgrade since Ethereum merged, the EIP-7702 guides you through a new era of smart wallet functionality directly within a standard Ethereum account.
This shift marks the transition to Trust Wallet’s smart wallet architecture. This brings account abstraction (AA) functionality to standard externally owned accounts (EOAS) – unlocking programmable wallet behavior, better UX, and more flexible transaction logic.
“The EIP-7702 changes the game,” said Eowyn Chen, CEO of Trust Wallet. “This is the most important UX upgrade that Ethereum has seen over the years and is excited to be one of the first wallets built directly on top of it.”
EIP-7702: A new era of wallet design
Proposed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and intended to be included in Pectra upgrades, EOAS (the most common type of wallet) can act like a smart contract wallet during a transaction without the need to deploy contract or switch account types.
Trust Wallet is already beginning to integrate this new standard into its infrastructure, and is opening up the following methods:
Gas Fee Flexibility – Users can pay for gas immediately using Stablecoins or other tokens (USDT, TWT, etc.) in BNB Chain and Ethereum One-Tap Smart Transactions.
Most importantly, users will retain full custody and privacy as they do not need to make changes to seed phrases or upgrade to smart contract wallets.
Built internally, end-to-end
Rather than relying on third-party abstractions or SDKs, Trust Wallet has developed an in-house modular AA engine built to be secure, scalable, and chain-independent. The system includes:
Paymaster – Custom Gas Logic and Token-Based Gas Payment Bundle – Optimized Multi-Step Transaction Relayer – Robust and Fast Submission of Abstracted Transaction Gas Provisions
This architecture gives Trust Wallet a long-term advantage in performance, reliability and scalability, setting new standards for EOA-based smart wallet designs.
“Our vision is to evolve your wallet from a static keychain to an intelligent, user-friendly agent,” added Eowyn Chen. “EIP-7702 provides the foundation for doing that in a secure, self-supporting way at scale.”
Coming soon: FlexGas and Smart Wallet UX
Although EIP-7702 support lays the foundation, Flexgas is the first feature of Trust Wallet built on a new architecture – which will then be deployed, allowing users to pay for gas with tokens they already have.
Other applications are already in the pipeline.

As the first independent wallet to fully embrace this new architecture, Trust Wallet is creating courses on how wallets evolve, from passive tools to intelligent financial agents.
